President Bola Tinubu’s aides and supporters looking to shift attention from his forgery scandal have exhumed the opposition leader’s WAEC certificate bearing Siddiq Abubakar.
As the president braces a steep political price, Nigerians have asked how he managed to ride a well-documented pattern of constitutional violations to the nation’s highest office.
He asserted the documents could not have been obtained earlier due to the legal red tape in the U.S., where he got them from.
Industry professionals criticised the contract award, asserting it was too much power for any retail business to wield over the nation.
When asked how they came about the report, an outlet told Peoples Gazette that Oluwole Afolabi, Mr Tinubu’s attorney, gave them the information.
The October 3, 2023, oral testimony showed that Mr Tinubu violated Nigeria’s Constitution and is now in legal jeopardy of having his presidency terminated.
He did, however, suggest that the Nigerian leader might have obtained the certificate from online businesses that specialise in forgery.
The repudiation of Mr Tinubu’s certificate — the only academic qualification he presented to the electoral office — came at a deposition of school officials on Tuesday in Chicago.
“For me, the issue is not whether President Tinubu graduated from Chicago State University or not,” Mr Ajayi wrote on X Tuesday evening.
“The court cautions President Tinubu that any request for a stay before this court will be denied,” Nancy Maldonado said.
