Bauchi tribunal upholds Governor Bala Mohammed’s victory

The Governorship, National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal in Bauchi has affirmed Governor Bala Mohammed as the authentic winner of the state’s gubernatorial poll.
On Wednesday, the three-man panel of judges headed by P.T Kwahar dismissed the petition by Sadique Abubakar of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the governor’s victory. It held that Mr Abubakar and his party held no ground to nullify the election.
The respondents in the petition are Mr Mohammed, his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
On March 20, INEC declared Mr Mohammed the election winner, having polled 525,280 votes, while his closest rival, Mr Abubakar, polled 432,272 votes.
