Being close to Gov. Mutfwang has made me to stop criticising him: Lawmaker

Yusuf Gagdi (APC-Plateau) has called on residents of Plateau to vote for Governor Caleb Mutfwang in 2027 for a second term.
Mr Gagdi, representing the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency of Plateau, made the call during an interactive session with journalists in Jos on Saturday.
The lawmaker, who had been one of the major critics of Mr Mutfwang, noted that the governor had performed beyond a reasonable doubt, and advised Plateau residents to vote for him again.
He explained that his earlier criticism of Mr Mutfwang was not personal, but in the interest of his constituents.
He insisted that the governor had completed many abandoned projects and initiated new ones.
“My getting close to Mutfwang has changed my perspective of him; it has changed some notions I had about him.
“Yes, I have criticised the governor in many fora in the past, it wasn’t personal but in the best interest of my constituents.
“Now, I have seen many ongoing road projects and other critical infrastructural drives initiated by the Mutfwang administration in my constituency and other parts of the state.
“So, if before now I was criticising him because I didn’t see his impact in my constituency, now I’m saying that I have seen a lot and he should be voted again in 2027,” Mr Gagdi said.
The lawmaker, who jokingly said that the governor’s performance increased shortly after he joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), promised to support his re-election bid.
