Belgium end U.S. 2026 World Cup dream amid Trump’s red card drama

Belgium booked their place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals with a 4-1 victory over the U.S., as the co-hosts ended their campaign in an underwhelming fashion amid a controversy ignited by President Donald Trump.
All the co-hosts (U.S., Canada and Mexico) have now been eliminated from the tournament.
Charles De Ketelaere’s brace, Hans Vanaken’s first World Cup goal and a late strike from substitute Romelu Lukaku set up a last-eight meeting with Spain.
Malik Tillman scored a goal for the U.S. in the match.
Spain will play Belgium at the Los Angeles Stadium on Friday after eliminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
