Borno govt lauds BOSHMA’s digital revolution drive at health facilities

Health commissioner Muhammed Gana has commended the Borno State Contributory Health Care Management Agency for its commitment to transforming healthcare delivery through the deployment of Electronic Medical Records.
Mr Gana made the commendation shortly after an inspection tour of the five digital-enabled BOSCHMA facilities in Maiduguri on Thursday.
The inspection team, led by the commissioner and in the company of BOSCHMA’s board of directors, was out to monitor operations, ensure compliance with quality standards for drug supplies, and assess renovated infrastructure in designated facilities.
The team also checked staff performance and reassured improved service delivery in every facility visited.
The commissioner stated that the Borno government had invested substantial resources to ensure the healthcare system delivered better care to the teeming residents.
Mr Gana said that the deployment of a digitally enabled system in BOSCHMA’s facilities was designed to improve service delivery in public hospitals.
According to him, the EMRs will improve diagnosis in BOSCHMA’s laboratories, support referrals and strengthen the overall system capacity for surveillance.
He also announced that the state government was working to expand the EMR to other primary healthcare centres.
The commissioner, however, thanked Governor Babagana Zulum for introducing the formal sector into the contributory healthcare scheme.
Mr Gana, however, expressed satisfaction with all the arrangements made so far for integrating the formal sector into the contributory healthcare scheme.
The commissioner said with this arrangement, the Borno government would be able to save lives and deliver qualitative medical services to the people.
