Brighton frustrate Chelsea with 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge
Wednesday’s English Premier League clash between Chelsea and Brighton ended in 1-1 draw at the Stamford Bridge, further puncturing the Blues race for the title.
The Thomas Tuchel boys had clinged desperately on Romelu Lukaku’s header on the 28th minutes mark, defending spiritedly against the mid-table Brighton who threatened all match.
Substitute Danny Welbeck, broke Chelsea supporters’ hearts as as headed home a sumptuous cross in the 91st minute.
Though Chelsea lead in the first half break, Brighton were full of flair, outplaying the Blues, creating more chances and controlling 53 per cent of ball possession with 6 shots on target in the game.
In contrast, the home side had 47 per cent ball possession and 5 shots on target in the game.
With Wednesday’s game outcome, Chelsea are 8 points behind league leaders Manchester City with 42 points in 20 games.
Brighton remain number 10 on the EPL log with two pending games, having garnered 25 points in 18 games.
