The British Museum in will present the previously stolen objects in a new exhibition on Thursday.

The stolen items that will be on displayed are 10 precious stones.

The “Rediscovering Gems’’ exhibit would be placed with similar ancient Greek and Roman artefacts from the collection that were once used to seal documents and for decoration.

The stolen items scandal came to light in mid-2023.

At the time, the museum announced that around 2,000 artefacts were missing, stolen or damaged.

One employee was dismissed and denies the allegations.

The German museum director Hartwig Fischer resigned.

The head of the Greece and Rome department, Tom Harrison, told the British news agency PA that it had been “very, very difficult’’ to recover 357 missing artefacts from six collectors.

It was much more difficult than initially thought to find the artefacts.

However, dealers have helped the museum in the search for the objects, which were scattered all over the world.

Numerous pieces were irreparably damaged, leaving a net loss even if all the objects were recovered, said Harrison.

Gem expert Claudia Wagner, who is also a lecturer at Oxford University, told PA that the pieces were worn by very wealthy Romans and were found at the ancient sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum.

“Rediscovering Gems’’ is on display at the British Museum until June 15.
