CAF nominates Nwabali, nine others for 2025 men’s goalkeeper of the year
The Confederation of African Football on Wednesday listed Nigerian goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, among 10 nominees for the 2025 Africa men’s goalkeeper of the year.
The Chippa United of South Africa goal stopper made the list alongside Cameroon’s Andre Onana (Trabzonspor), Cape Verde’s Vozinha (Chaves), Egypt’s Ahmed El Shenawy (Pyramids) and Morocco’s Munir Mohamedi (RS Berkane)
Other nominees include, Morocco’s Yassine Bonou (Al Hilal), South Africa’s Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns), Tunisia’s Aymen Dahmen (CS Sfaxien) and Senegal’s duo of Edouard Mendy and Marc Diouf (Al Ahli and Tengueth respectively).
Another Nigerian, Daniel Bameyi, the captain of the Under-20 national team, was also listed among nine other nominations for the 2025 men’s young player of the year.
The Primorje of Slovenia defender was in the list alongside Burkina Faso’s Asharaf Tapsoba (Real du Faso), Cote d’Ivoire’s Alynho Haidara (Mainz 05 Jacqueville), DR Congo’s Noah Sadiki (Sunderland) and Morocco’s Abdellah Ouazane (Ajax).
Also, part of the list are Morocco’s Houssam Essadak and Othmane Maamma (US Touarga and Watford respectively), Sierra Leone’s Momoh Kamara (Minnesota United), South Africa’s Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Tylon Smith (Orlando Pirates and Queens Park Rangers respectively).
