CAF WCLQ: Bayelsa Queens defeat Ampem to win WAFU Zone B tournament

Bayelsa Queens emerged champions of WAFU Zone B CAF Women Champions League qualifying tournament following a 3-0 victory over Ghana’s Ampem in the final on Saturday.
The two sides reached the final on an unbeaten record but the Nigerian champions were superior considering the number of wins and goals recorded in the four matches that were played coming into the final.
The Prosperity Girls sealed the victory in the first half of the encounter that took place at the Yamoussoukro Stadium, Côte d’Ivoire.
Miracle Joseph, Flourish Sabastine, and Chinyere Igbomalu all got their names on the scoresheet in the 11th, 19th, and 42nd minutes of the encounter respectively as Bayelsa Queens lifted the trophy of the zonal qualifying tournament.
Both teams will represent the zone in the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League that has been scheduled to take place between October to November in Morocco.
The victory means Bayelsa Queens finished the 2021/22 campaign with two titles following their triumph in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super 6 in June.
