Cash crunch won’t affect elections in Ekiti: INEC
The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ekiti State, Ayobami Salami, says the current cash crunch will not affect the conduct of the February 25 and March 11 elections in the state.
Mr Salami said this on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti while distributing sensitive materials to the 16 local government areas ahead of Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly (NASS) elections.
“I want to assure you that the cash crunch will not affect the mobilisation and all the activities of INEC because, as of now, we have received the necessary cash that we need to conduct this election, and in terms of logistics for fuel, we also have adequate fuel for all our activities. We are good to go,” he said.
The distribution was monitored by security and paramilitary agencies, including the police, army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the State Security Service (SSS).
“We have received all the sensitive and non-sensitive materials, we are distributing all the sensitive materials to all the LGAs in the state, and we have everything we need at the polling units and every part of the state,” he said.
