China will dispatch its special envoy for Middle East affairs to help reduce escalating tensions following recent military strikes involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

At a regular news conference on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said Beijing would continue working with all parties involved in the conflicts in the Middle East.

This will help to maintain communication, intensify mediation efforts and build consensus among the concerns.

Ms Mao made the remarks while responding to questions about heightened regional tensions after reported strikes against Iran by the U.S. and Israel.

She announced that Zhai Jun, the Chinese government’s special envoy on the Middle East, would travel to the region in the near future to promote dialogue and support efforts to de-escalate the situation.

According to the spokesperson, China remains committed to engaging with all sides to encourage restraint and diplomatic solutions as part of broader international efforts to stabilise the region.
