China’s GDP to grow around 5.1% in 2022: Analyst

China’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to grow around 5.1 per cent year on year in 2022, the Xinhua-run Shanhai Securities Journal quoted Dong Qi, chief analyst of Guotai Junan Securities as saying on Tuesday.
According to the journal, China’s economy is projected to show a W-shaped growth trend in 2022 with an estimated 5.1 per cent year on year GDP expansion.
The chief analyst is of the opinion that China’s economy is currently in the early stage of the construction of a “dual circulation” development pattern and there is no need to be overly pessimistic about future economic growth.
Looking ahead, he added, China’s economy would once again present a cyclical upward force.
Dong Qi said available data showed that in the third quarter of 2021 China’s GDP grew 4.9 per cent year on year, slower than its growth of 18.3 per cent in the first quarter, and 7.9 per cent in the second quarter.
