Club World Cup: Bayern through to final

German club Bayern’s bid for a second FIFA Club World Cup title is up and running after they booked a place in Thursday’s final in Qatar.
Their ace striker, Robert Lewandowski, struck twice as Hansi Flick’s team opened their campaign with a 2-0 semi-final win against Al Ahly of Egypt on Monday.
Mexico’s Tigres UANL await in the final, which kicks off at 19:00 CET.
Bayern were crowned European champions for a sixth time in August following a 1-0 defeat of Paris in the Lisbon final. The Bundesliga club will now embark on a second Club World Cup participation.
Their previous appearance came in 2013 when Josep Guardiola’s team lifted the trophy in Marrakesh thanks to a 2-0 final victory over Raja Casablanca.
European sides have won each of the last seven editions of the Club World Cup, a run started by Bayern in 2013 and extended by Liverpool’s 2019 triumph.
