The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, on Saturday, inaugurated projects, including the officers quarters at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna.
During the event, Mr Lagbaja pledged to address the challenges of welfare and other issues confronting the personnel.
The projects commissioned at the 37 NDA Demonstration Battalion, were phase two of the officers quarters and the unit Obstacle Crossing Course.
Mr Lagbaja, acknowledged the challenges faced by the Demonstration Battalion, which he said included inadequate accommodation, facilities and manpower, below the established strength.
He, therefore, noted that the projects were parts of the measures the army took in addressing the challenges, noting that they would continue to address them.
“For some of you that are posted to this unit, we know the accommodations your families are living in are not in good state, where they will require electricity and water supply, all will be addressed,” he said.
The COAS added that the challenges of the backlog of group life assurance were being taken headlong by the federal government, and assured that it would be addressed soonest.
He, therefore, charged the personnel to reciprocate with loyalty, dedication and discipline to the gesture of government, noting that they were spending hugely in the army and the Armed Forces in general.
