President Alassane Ouattara has decided to open an embassy in Kenya as Cote d’Ivoire and Kenya move to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The decision was announced during a meeting between Mr Ouattara and Kenyan President William Ruto on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital.

The summit brought together more than 30 African leaders and French President Emmanuel Macron.

During the talks, Messrs Ouattara and Ruto discussed bilateral relations and challenges related to financing Africa’s development, including domestic resource mobilisation and sustainable financing mechanisms.

The two leaders also explored prospects for expanding economic and trade exchanges between Côte d’Ivoire and Kenya, as well as the finalisation of a framework cooperation agreement between the two countries.
