An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Wednesday sentenced a man, Bamidele Folorunsho, to 10 years imprisonment for indecently touching a 12-year-old girl’s breast.

Justice Rahman Oshodi sentenced Mr Folorunsho after he pleaded guilty to an amended two-count charge of indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault.

Mr Folorunsho was, sometime in October 2021, charged with an offence of defilement, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Mr Folorunsho later changed his not guilty plea to guilty in a plea bargain agreement.

The court, therefore, asked Mr Folorunsho if he understood the contents of the plea bargain agreement.

The convict admitted he made the plea voluntarily and was satisfied with the advice of his counsel.

While delivering the judgement on Wednesday, Mr Oshodi said the court was satisfied that the convict understood the contents of his plea and the obligation of the court to give the maximum sentences on the charge.

“I have found you guilty based on your plea in the amended information dated December 11. I have carefully considered the plea bargain agreement and your show of remorse. I hereby sentence you to 10 years of imprisonment, which will commence from March 22, 2018, the day you were arrested, and your name shall be registered as a sex offender,” the judge held.

Earlier, the state counsel, Olufunmilayo Aluko, informed the court that both parties had entered a plea and sentence agreement.

The prosecution, therefore, told the court that the convict committed the offences sometime in February 2018 on Lambo Lasunwon Street First Gate in Ikorodu, Lagos.

The prosecution submitted that the convict treated the minor indecently, by touching her anus and fondling her breast.

According to the prosecution, the offences violate Sections 135 and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
