Court remands man, 20, over alleged theft of window, prepaid meter in Ibadan

The magistrate adjourned the case until October 28 for hearing.

A Chief Magistrate Court in Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday, ordered the remand of 20-year-old Qudri Olasupo, in a correctional centre for allegedly stealing six aluminium windows and a prepaid meter valued at N198,000.

The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of breaking in and stealing levelled against him.

Following his inability to perfect the bail conditions which the court granted him; the defendant was ordered to be remanded in the Agodi correctional facility.

The Magistrate, O.O. Latunji, had admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Latunji said that the two sureties must be blood relatives, and she adjourned the case until October 28 for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Inspector Oluseye Akinola, told the court that the defendant committed the crime on August 4, at about 4.00 p.m., at Adesola Orita-Aperin, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Akinola alleged that Olasupo broke into a nursery and primary school whose name was not stated, belonging to one Oluseyi Dada, to steal six aluminium windows valued at N120,000 and a prepaid meter valued at N78,000, before he was apprehended.

He said that the offences contravened the provision of sections 412 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. ii laws of Oyo State 2000.
