A Magistrates’ Court in Osogbo, Osun State, on Wednesday, remanded one Ayomide Bello, who is standing trial for alleged fraud and attempted murder.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, had pleaded not guilty to the four -count charge of fraud, attempted murder and breach of public peace, levelled against him.

The Magistrate, A.O Odeleye, who denied the defendant’s bail application, ordered that he should be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre.

Odeleye subsequently adjourned the case until March 20 for mention.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Jacob Akintunde, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 26, at 11:00a.m., within Ota-Efun Area, Osogbo.

Akintunde said the defendant stole one Itel S24 mobile phone valued at about N210,000:00 belonging to one Hillary Austine.

He said that Bello through an online application on the phone transferred N390,000 from an OPAY Microfinance bank account No: 9119305080, property of one Hillary Austine, to other accounts.

The prosecutor said, “The defendants also made some huge transactions with the handset at his disposal before he was tracked and arrested.”

Akintunde said that the offences contravened sections 327, 383(1), 419, and 430 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The Defence counsel, Najite Okobie, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
