Court remands man for alleged armed robbery

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 33-year-old man, Stanley Julius, in a corrections centre for alleged armed robbery.
The police charged Mr Julius, who is unemployed and resides in Ungwan Sarki Malali, Kaduna, with conspiracy, robbery and unlawful possession of stolen property.
Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel, who did not take Mr Julius’ plea, adjourned the case until May 22 for mention and receipt of legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the suspect committed the offence on April 11 at Kinkinau Kaduna.
Mr Leo said that the suspect and others at large robbed one Eric Daniel of his iPhone worth N380,000 and his Samsung S6 worth N180,000 at gunpoint in his house.
He said that Mr Julius and his accomplices, who were armed with a locally made gun, entered the complainant’s apartment and robbed him and his family.
The prosecutor said that the complainant’s mobile phones were eventually tracked to the suspect.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
