Court remands Osun man for killing mother

Police said the defendant physically assaulted his mother, Taibat Jimoh, following a rancour and that the assault led to her death.

The Osogbo  Magistrates’ Court in Osun, on Monday, remanded a man, Taofeek Jimoh, at the Ilesa Correctional Centre for the killing of his mother.

Mr Jimoh is being charged with murder.

The prosecutor, ASP Fatoba Temitope, informed the court that the defendant committed the offence at approximately 8:00 p.m. on February 19 in Oke-Ola, Osogbo.

Mr Temitope said the defendant physically assaulted his mother, Taibat Jimoh, following a rancour and that the assault led to her death.

He said that the offence contravened Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun State, 2002.

The magistrate, O. Olatunji, stated that Jimoh was remanded due to the magnitude of the charge preferred against him.

He adjourned until June 17 for mention.
