Court remands sales rep over N2.5 million fraud in Osun

A 31-year-old sales representative, Olamilekan Adeniji, was on Wednesday remanded in the Ilesa Correctional Centre over an alleged fraud of N2.5 million.
Mr Adeniji had pleaded not guilty to a one-count charge of fraud preferred against him.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Taiwo Adegoke, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime between November 2021 and October 2022 at Km 10, Dagbolu area, Ikirun, Osun.
Mr Adegoke said the defendant, being a sales representative, fraudulently converted the proceed from the sale of bread belonging to one Makinde Oluseyi, who employed him.
He said the offence contravened sections 390 (9)(6) of the criminal code cap 34 vol.11, laws of Osun, 2022.
The defence counsel, Ifeoluwa Ayodeji, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.
The magistrate, A. Ajala, overruled the bail application by the defence counsel due to the magnitude of the alleged offence.
The case was adjourned to December 20 for a hearing.
