Court revokes music producer Kelly Mall’s supervised release
A U.S. District Court on Thursday revoked supervised release for music producer Jamal Rashid, professionally known as “Mally Mall, ” sentencing him to 17 months in prison for violating the conditions of his release after serving time for a sex trafficking case.
District Judge Gloria Navarro imposed the fresh sentence after Mr Rashid admitted that he violated several conditions of his supervised release. The violations included marijuana, cocaine and MDMA, providing false information to his probation officer and associating with a convicted felon without permission.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada, Sigal Chattah, said, “Supervised release is a critical extension of the federal justice system, designed to ensure accountability, protect the public, and support rehabilitation. Jamal Rashid chose to treat those court-ordered boundaries with absolute disregard.”
Ms Chattah said the music producer failed to comply with the conditions of his supervised release, failing drug tests, maintaining hidden spaces, and violating association restrictions.
Prosecutors accused Mr Rashid of tampering with an established victim involved in his previous criminal case.
She noted, “The Department of Justice will not tolerate the intimidation of victims or the manipulation of judicial proceedings. This 17-month prison sentence sends a definitive message: federal oversight is mandatory, and those who attempt to bypass or undermine the authority of the court will face immediate extraction from the community and a return to federal prison.”
FBI Las Vegas Special Agent in Charge Christopher S. Delzotto, while highlighting Mr Rashid’s violations, said he unlawfully recorded conversations with a victim and associated with convicted felons.
“No one has the right to threaten, intimidate, or coerce victims. Those who engage in coordinated campaigns of threats and intimidation should expect to be held fully accountable under federal law,” Mr Delzotto added.
Mr Rashid pleaded guilty to one count of use of an interstate facility in aid of unlawful activity in October 2019.
He was later sentenced to two years and nine months in prison for unlawfully operating prostitution businesses for over 12 years in May 2021.
The probe was coordinated by the FBI, while the hearing was handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Rose.
