The Oyo State Commissioner of Police (CP), Johnson Adenola, on Thursday inaugurated a renovated police station in Kishi, Oyo State.

The police station was renovated by the Kishi Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Mutiu Odofin.

At the inauguration, Mr Adenola called on residents of Kishi to partner with the police and other security agencies to combat security challenges in the town and the state in general.

“What we are preaching these days is inclusive policing, where everyone will be involved in the business of securing the community. No single security agency has enough manpower to do the job of security alone; we need to work together,” he said.

The CP also urged the community not to take laws into their own hands by fighting erring security personnel, but rather report them to their superiors for necessary action.

Mr Adenola further advised policemen and personnel of other security agencies in Kishi to bury interagency rivalry and work as a team to tackle security challenges in the community.

He said, “Security challenges do not know colour; you must work together.’’

Esther Adegbenjo, Chairperson of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Oyo State, had earlier commended the police for working tirelessly to secure lives and property.

The Kishi Progressive Union Worldwide presented an award of commendation to Odofin for deeming it fit to renovate the station.

The CP entourage later moved to Igbeti Community to solicit the support of the Onigbeti of Igbeti, Oba Bashir Abioye, in establishing cordial community policing.
