Three persons on a motorcycle were crushed to death on Sunday night by a truck around Ago Oko in Abeokuta.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesman for the Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, confirmed the incident.

Mr Akinbiyi disclosed that the crash occurred at 8:00 p.m.

The TRACE spokesman further stated that theĺ motorcycle rider tried to overtake the truck from the right but collided with another motorcycle which threw them under the truck.

“We gathered from an eyewitness that the motorcycle was trying to overtake a Dangote truck from the right. Unfortunately, another speeding bike collided with the victims’ bike from the rear, throwing them underneath a moving truck on the fast lane.

“The three of them on the motorcycle were crushed to death in the process. A phone retrieved at the scene was used to connect the relations of the deceased, and the corpses were taken away by their family,” he said.

Mr Akinbiyi also revealed that hoodlums chased away police officers and TRACE officials from the crash scene and looted the truck’s content.
