David, Asake, Ayra Starr bag Grammy nominations
Davido, Asake, Olamide Baddo, and Ayra Starr earned their first Grammy nominations in the 2024 list. Davido secured three nominations, including Best African Performance, Best Global Music Performance, and Best Global Album.
Similarly, Asake received a nod for Best African Music Performance for ‘Amapiano,’ featuring Olamide.
Ayra Starr celebrated her debut nomination for ‘Rush’ in the Best African Music Performance category, just as Burna Boy also earned four nominations at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
Mr Ibu’s leg amputated
Veteran actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, underwent a leg amputation, as revealed by his family in a statement shared on his Instagram page last Monday.
The announcement detailed that the comic actor had undergone seven surgeries, with the amputation deemed necessary for his survival. The family sought financial assistance, while expressing gratitude for the support received
On October 18, the actor sought help to avoid amputation, saying, “I am still lying down in the hospital; the medical doctor of the hospital said the best solution if his idea didn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg. Just see me; if they cut off my leg, where will I go to? Where do I go from here?”
Avengers’ stunt man Taraja Ramsess dies with three children
Renowned stunt performer and actor Taraja Ramsess, celebrated for his roles in major films like “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Endgame,” tragically lost his life at 41 in a car accident on Halloween night in Atlanta, Georgia.
The collision claimed the lives of his daughters Sundari (13) and eight-week-old Fujibo and his 10-year-old son Kisasi, who passed away after being on life support. Two daughters survived, and three-year-old Shazia recovered from minor injuries. The accident occurred when Ramsess’s vehicle collided with a broken-down tractor and trailer.
Acknowledged for his talent and love for family, martial arts, motorcycles, and filmmaking, Ramsess left a lasting impact on projects like “The Suicide Squad,” “Atlanta,” and “Creed III,” contributing to productions such as “The Walking Dead” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” in the art department.
Chris Brown releases ‘11:11’ album
Chris Brown, the American R&B singer, released his album ‘11:11’ on November 10, signifying his eleventh album.
The dancer surprised fans by dropping his latest album a day before scheduled November 11.
Featuring a total of 22 tracks, the album highlights collaborations with Davido, Lojay, Friday, Future, and Byron Messia.
The artiste teased fans by releasing ‘Sensational’ on October 20 featuring Davido and Lojay, he also released the music video and the dance challenge has been trending on TikTok and Instagram.
Shallipopi releases debut album
Nigerian singer and songwriter Crown Uzama Shallipopi has released his debut album titled “Presido La Pluto.”
The album consists of 13 tracks featuring the likes of Odumodu, Focalisic and zerrydl and Tekno
