Delta LG begins disbursement of N50,000 bursary to 430 students

The Ika South Local Government Area of Delta has begun the disbursement of bursaries to 430 students of the area, with each successful beneficiary receiving N50,000.
The Chairman of the council, Jerry Ehiwarior, said on Tuesday that the bursary scheme underscored his administration’s commitment to education, youth empowerment and human capital development.
According to him, the programme coordinated through the Ika South students bursary scheme, is targeted at supporting students in higher institutions and encouraging them to remain focused on their academic pursuits.
“Education remains a critical tool for development and nation-building, my administration will continue to invest in programmes that empower young people and provide them with opportunities to achieve their full potential,” he stated.
He said the bursary was designed to reduce the financial burden on students and their families, while fostering a culture of excellence among beneficiaries.
He stated, “We officially commenced online disbursement of Ika South student bursaries today, 430 students that applied met the criteria hence the online disbursement. We are reaffirming our commitment to supporting education and investing in the future of our young people. This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on students and encouraging academic excellence across our communities.”
The council chairman, who congratulated all successful applicants, urged them to remain diligent in their studies.
He said the knowledge and skills they acquired would prepare them for responsible leadership and contributions to society.
He stated, “Building a better future through education remains a key priority of this administration.”
