The Delta State police command says it has arrested a 28-year-old suspected armed robber, Chinoso Igwemma, and recovered a firearm during an operation along the Ugbolu–Asaba Road.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, adding that the suspect was apprehended during a coordinated stop-and-search operation on April 23 at about 4:00 p.m.

Mr Edafe said the suspect was arrested in possession of a fabricated pistol.

“On 23 April 2026 at about 1625hrs, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), while on routine stop-and-search duty along Ugbolu/Asaba Road, intercepted one Chinoso Igwemma, male, aged 28 years.

“The suspect’s conduct aroused suspicion, prompting a search which led to the recovery of one fabricated Beretta pistol,” Mr Edafe said

Mr Bright said that the swift action of the operatives may have prevented a potential violent crime, adding that the suspect is currently in custody and under investigation.
