DSVA hails life sentence for paedophile who raped 11-year-old

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has lauded the sentencing to life in prison of a man, Rasheed Wasiu, who defiled his neighbour’s 11-year-old daughter.
On Wednesday, the agency commended the conviction and sentencing in a post shared on its verified X handle @LSdsva.
Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, on Wednesday in Ikeja, handed down the sentence after finding Wasiu guilty of defilement.
“The evidence shows that you defiled an 11-year-old girl and you showed no remorse. She was your neighbour’s daughter and she was to your knowledge, a child but you grabbed her in the toilet, pushed her to the wall and defiled her in a beastly manner.
“This is unacceptable and you must be ashamed and punished according to the mandatory sentence,” the judge said.
According to the agency, justice was served by the convict’s sentencing.
The agency reiterated the state’s zero-tolerance stance and commitment to helping survivors of sexual offences as well as ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
It urged residents of the state to continue to break the culture of silence by reporting any case of domestic or sexual violence by calling its toll-free line.
