Early Campaigns: Nasarawa governor’s aide tells INEC to punish violators

Ibrahim Mohammed-Lawal, an aide to Governor Abdullahi Sule, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to sanction violators of early campaigns and its electoral acts in Nasarawa. His call was made in a statement on Thursday.
Mr Mohammed-Lawal said that politicians and stakeholders must play the game of politics by its rules in the interest of unity, peace and development of Nasarawa.
He reiterated that INEC had not lifted the ban on political campaigns, yet certain actors continue to engage in premature and unlawful political activities.
“We hereby call on INEC to take note of these violations and apply appropriate sanctions, in line with the Electoral Act, to deter further abuse of the democratic process,” he said.
The personal assistant also urged APC stakeholders to respect the party’s decision in Nasarawa.
“We reaffirm that decisions taken by the APC State Working Committee are collective, lawful, and binding. Party supremacy remains sacrosanct and must not be subordinated to personal ambition or external political interests,” he said.
Mr Mohammed-Lawal said that the APC was a progressive party committed to national renewal, stability, and development, and not a platform for political opportunism.
“We stand firmly with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sule against any plot to distract, discredit, or derail governance in Nasarawa state.
“Our focus remains governance, development, reforms, and consolidating the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda, so that Nigerians can continue to experience purposeful leadership,” he said.
