EFCC arrests 12 suspected internet fraudsters in Uyo, Kaduna
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained 12 suspects over alleged internet fraud in Akwa Ibom and Kaduna states.
EFCC ‘s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said three of the suspects were arrested in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, and nine were picked in the Sabo area of Kaduna State.
Mr Oyewale said all three male suspects were arrested on Wednesday during an early morning sting operation at Mbierebe, Stadium Road, Akpasak Estate and Oron Road, all in Uyo.
He listed the items recovered from the suspects as four mobile phones, a desktop computer, a laptop and two cars.
The spokesperson further stated that the EFCC, in the Kaduna Zonal Directorate, arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters in the Sabo area of the state capital.
He said the suspects were arrested on Monday, following actionable intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.
”Items recovered from them include nine iPhones, 17 Android phones, four power banks, three necklaces, two bangles and one headphone,” he said.
According to Mr Oyewale, all the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
