Eid-el-Kabir: Northern govs urge Nigerians to have faith amid insecurity, economic crisis
In separate statements felicitating with the Muslim faithful on the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, some governors in Nigeria’s northern region have urged citizens to have faith in God amid the insecurity and economic crisis bedevilling the country.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, in a statement by his media aide, Muyiwa Adekeye, said as Nigerians face challenges, it is also pertinent for them to emulate sacrifice and faith in their daily lives.
“In these difficult times, let us be buoyed by faith and retain the hope that together, we can make things better. Let us embrace the lesson of sacrifice and uphold peace and goodwill toward all,” the governor said.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, in a Sallah statement by Ismail Misili, his spokesperson, said the challenges should not be allowed to distract Nigerians from learning the lessons of the Eid-el-Kabir in putting their trust in God.
“I also pray for the unity of purpose as a panacea to insecurity, socio-economic challenges,” he said. ” And in our daily lives for the overall peace and unity of the state and nation.”
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State called on the Muslims to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice, exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, who accepted to sacrifice his only son.
The governor also called on Nigerians, especially those performing the 2022 Hajj in Saudi Arabia, to pray for the country given the security challenges and the forthcoming general elections.
He urged Nigerians, irrespective of faith, ethnic and political affiliations, to always imbibe the virtues of humility and service to humanity in the country’s overall interest.
Meanwhile, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe charged Nigerians to imbibe forgiveness and tolerance in all their endeavours.
In a statement by his spokesperson, Mamman Mohammed, the governor said the Eid-el-Kabir, was a period of sacrifice, forgiveness, submission and benevolence.
He also admonished the people Nigerians to engage in agriculture as the season commenced for economic recovery, food sufficiency and security.
