Ekiti police launch joint show of force with army

The police command in Ekiti has deployed security personnel across the state to ensure peaceful, hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Police commissioner Joseph Eribo said the deployment was part of measures put in place by the command to protect lives and property during and after the yuletide season.
Mr Eribo said that the command had also commenced a joint show of force with the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and other security agencies to strengthen public safety.
He explained that the exercise was not intended to intimidate law-abiding citizens but to boost public confidence and promote a safe environment where residents could go about their lawful activities without fear.
Addressing area commanders, divisional police officers, and heads of tactical and intelligence units during a pre-Christmas briefing at the state headquarters, the commissioner charged officers to be proactive, remain vigilant, and prioritise the safety of lives and property.
He warned officers against unprofessional conduct and any action capable of infringing on the rights of innocent citizens, stressing that the command would not tolerate misconduct.
The police boss congratulated Christians on the Christmas and New Year celebrations and urged residents to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security operatives or through the command’s emergency line on 08062335577.
