Ekiti poly rector warns new students against cultism, drug abuse

The rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic (EKSPOLY) Isan–Ekiti, Sunday Ajeigbe, has warned the students of the institution against engaging in cultism, drug abuse and other social vices.
Mr Ajeigbe gave the warning at the institution’s sixth matriculation ceremony held in Isan-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area of the state, on Tuesday.
He urged the students to be disciplined, focused and dedicated to their academics and to make the best use of available opportunities to secure their future.
“Be focused on your studies, and avoid distractions and social vices such as cultism, drug abuse, examination malpractice and other forms of indiscipline.
“Uphold the values of integrity, hard work and respect for authority; remember that the polytechnic has established rules and regulations designed to ensure order, safety and academic excellence,” he said.
According to him, matriculation is not merely a ceremonial event but a solemn academic tradition that symbolises a student’s commitment to discipline, scholarship, innovation, and responsible conduct while learning at the institution.
The rector assured the new students of a conducive learning environment, modern teaching methods and supportive mentorship.
He thanked the state government, the polytechnic governing council, members of staff and development partners for their contributions to ensuring the development of the institution.
About 274 students participated in the oath-taking during the matriculation ceremony.Â
