Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye, is dead.

Mr Afuye died on Wednesday at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) where he was briefly treated after he suffered cardiac arrest. 

He was 66.

His death was confirmed to the Nigerian Tribune by his associates under conditions of anonymity. 

Mr Afuye was until the time of his death the leader of the state parliament while serving his second term. He attended the inauguration of the new governor of the state, Biodun Oyebanji on Sunday and had attended to other official duties.
