Ember Months: Traffic offenders in Ogun to face immediate prosecution, FRSC vows

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun says traffic offenders during the festive period would be arrested and immediately prosecuted.
Akinwunmi Fasakin, the Ogun sector commander, gave the warning during the launching of the 2024 Ember Months campaign in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Mr Fasakin said motorists violating traffic rules, such as speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, and using phones while driving, among others, would be apprehended accordingly.
“The state will also establish mobile courts during the ember months to expedite the prosecution of offenders,” he said.
The sector commander emphasised the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations.
Mr Fasakin announced collaboration with other agencies, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the state Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), to enforce strict traffic rules.
“The command will also collaborate with NDLEA, TRACE, and other relevant agencies to arrest errant motorists on highways across the state.
“Our officers will be at the Lagos-Ibadan, Ijebu-Ode—Sagamu expressway 24 hours of the day to ensure safety on our roads,” he said.
The sector commander quoted the FRSC corps marshal, Muhammed Shehu, as highlighting measures to curb road accidents during the festive season.
He recalled that the corps marshal had launched mega public enlightenment and sensitisation campaigns in all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with enforcement measures on high alert.
