eSports to pay winners of its top five tournaments $775 million prize money

A recent report claims that the combined prize money for the top five eSports games has reached $775 million, with the Dota 2 tournament accounting for more than $311 million, more than half of the total prize money.
Dota 2 continues to be the most lucrative eSports game in the world, according to the report, despite a significant decrease in the prize money for its 2022 championship.
According to Esports Earnings data, Chinese players won one-fifth of the $311 million total prize pool for the well-known multiplayer online battle arena game.
Players of Dota 2 have participated in 1,735 tournaments and competitions to date and have taken home more cash prizes than players of CS:GO and Fortnite combined.
The report placed Fortnite as the second-highest paid eSports game with a total prize pool of $148.4 million. Close behind with over $145.5 million is Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
With $98.7 million and $70.4 million, respectively, League of Legends and Arena of Valor round out the top five.
The five eSports games with the highest prize pools combined prize money of about $500 million in 2020. This amount increased to $555 million the following year.
According to statistics, the prize pools for the top five games have increased in value by an impressive $220 million over the past two years, reaching $775 million this month.
