A Wuse Zone Six Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, sentenced a 22-year-old Ali Mohammed, to one month’s imprisonment for impersonating a military officer.

However, the Magistrate, Aminu Eri, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N10,000.

Mr. Eri said the prosecution had proven his case beyond the reasonable doubt that the convict was guilty of the charges preferred against him.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Peter Ejike, said Mr. Mohammed committed the offence between January 16 and 17 at Abuja’s Wuse market.

On January 17, the convict met Abubakar Sani (a POS agent), one of the complainants. He introduced himself as a military officer while dressed in army camouflage and deceitfully collected N7,000 from him.

On January 16, Mr. Mohammed met another complainant, Yakubu Mohammed, collected his MP3 player valued at N5,500 and N500 cash.

He said when the complainant confronted the convict and demanded his money, he beat him up.
