Two goals by Opeyemi Ajakaye and one by Flourish Sebastine steered Nigeria’s under-20 women past their Burkinabe counterparts on Sunday in Kumasi, Ghana.

The win was in their final Group B match at the ongoing WAFU B Under-20 Women Tournament.

Ajakaye took her tally for the tournament to six with well-taken strikes in the 10th and 60th minutes of the match at the Baba Yara Stadium.

She was the top scorer for the under-girls, the Flamingos, in their qualification campaign for last year’s FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

Sebastine, a key player in the Falconets’ squad that reached the 2022 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup quarter-finals in Costa Rica, added the third with three minutes to the end.

The result merely confirms Nigeria’s leadership of the pool.

The Falconets had already qualified for the semi-finals following the 7-0 defeat of Niger Republic and 6-0 hammering of Togo earlier at the tournament.

Falconets have now increased their tally to 16 goals in three matches without conceding any.

They will now face the runners-up of Group A in the second semi-finals slated for the Baba Yara Stadium by 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
