Falconets’ coach picks Ohaegbulem, Oladipo, Yina, 17 others for African Games

The Head coach of Nigeria’s Under 20 Girls, the Falconets, Christopher Danjuma, has picked 20 players to represent Nigeria in the women’s football event of the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Director of Communications, Nigeria Football Federation, Ademola Olajire, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
The 20 players who made the team to the African games, scheduled to hold from March 8 to March 24, are expected to travel to Ghana today.
Mr Danjuma picked goalkeeper Anderline Mgbechi, defender and captain, Oluchi Ohaegbulem, midfielder, Adoo Yina and forward, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu.
Also named are goalkeeper Faith Omilana; defenders Shukurat Oladipo and Jumoke Alani; midfielders Chioma Olise and Olushola Shobowale and forwards Blessing Okpe and Judith Okah.
Defending champions, Nigeria, are in Group B alongside Morocco, Senegal and Cameroon; while hosts Ghana will contend with Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda in Group A.
All Nigeria group matches will take place at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The Falconets won the gold medal in the women’s football event of the 12th African Games that took place in Rabat, Morocco in October 2019.
Full List of the players: Goalkeepers; Anderline Mgbechi, Rachael Unachukwu and Faith Omilana. Defenders; Shukurat Oladipo, Oluchi Ohaegbulem, Jumoke Alani, Chidinma Ogbuchi, Oluwabunmi Oladeji and Chidera Okenwa.
Othera are: Midfielders Adoo Yina, Joy Igbokwe, Chioma Olise, Chinyere Kalu and Olushola Shobowale.
Forwards; Motunrayo Ezekiel, Blessing Okpe, Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, Loveth Edeh, Judith Okah and Delight Nwosu.
All the Nigeria group matches will be played at the same venue, Cape Coast, Ghana by 8.00 p.m. (GMT).
Falconets’ first match is against Morocco on March 8, the second match is against Senegal on March 11 and the third match against Cameroon on March 14.
The 13th African Games will be held across three cities in Ghana: Accra, Kumasi and Cape Coast from March 8 to March 13.
