Netizens have called for a thorough investigation after three black sisters identified as Jane Adetoro, Christina Walter and Rebecca Walter were found dead in a sea off Brighton beach in the United Kingdom.

Reports noted that emergency services were called to the beach at around 5:45 a.m. on May 13 when the bodies of the sisters were discovered in a nearby sea, with authorities later recovering their remains from the water body.

The circumstances behind the deaths of the siblings remained unclear as of press time, prompting the Sussex Police to turn to the public for information, especially from anyone who might have seen them between 10:00 p.m. on May 12 and 5:30 a.m. on May 13.

The police were said to have combed hundreds of hours of security cameras footage obtained from buildings and businesses around the beach but there was no evidence to suggest the third-party involvement or criminality. 

Authorities, however, assured that all hands were on deck to uncover the full facts about the case as detectives continued their investigation. 

“The thoughts of everyone at Sussex Police are with the family of Jane, Christina and Rebecca following this devastating loss,” said Chief Superintendent Adam Hays, the Divisional Commander for Brighton and Hove.

He added, “I know this incident has had a profound impact on the local community in Brighton, and across the country and I’d like to reassure the public we will leave no stone unturned in our investigation to understand exactly what led to the tragic events of that Wednesday morning.

“This investigation will continue in earnest, with Jane, Christina and Rebecca’s family at its centre. I would ask that they are given the privacy to come to terms with this terrible tragedy.”

The victims’ father Joseph has also released a tribute mourning her daughters, stating that he was in great pain because Mmes Adetoro, 36, Christina, 32, Rebecca, 31, were the joy of the family. 

“Today, with a heart full of sorrow and love, I pay tribute to my beloved daughters — Jane, Christina, and Becky — whose lives ended so tragically far too soon. No words can truly describe the pain of losing three daughters in the prime of their lives. 

“Jane, Christina, and Becky were more than daughters to me; they were my joy, my strength, and the beautiful light that filled our family with happiness and love,” he stated. 

A London-based Nigerian actress Kelechi Okafor, in an Instagram video, said that the mother of the victims died in a similar manner after she went missing in 2012 before her body was found in a lake.

She added that her death also was ruled a ‘non suspicious’ because she had struggles with mental health.

Ms Okafor, who dug into the family history after someone falsely claiming to be the mother asked her to help open a GoFundMe account to raise funds for the siblings supposed burial, called on the police to intensify their investigation because the black community deserves an answer.

Recall that the Peoples Gazette reported in March that a UK-based advocacy group, ForBlackWomenUK, raised concerns, highlighting a mysterious pattern after the bodies of four Nigerian women and one Kenyan were found in rivers, lakes or offshore waters shortly after their  disappearance. 

“There has been speculation online about whether someone could be targeting Black people, particularly Black women, and disposing of bodies in water. Black women deserve protection. Black women deserve urgency. Black women deserve to be found,” ForBlackWomenUK said in a statement. 

The latest case of the three sisters have sparked fear among many on social media, describing the situation aa suspicious.

An Instagram user @mydailyrpg said, “This is suspicious. I hope it is being investigated. That poor family.”

“Check their phones. This shit isn’t making any sort of sense at all,” another user @keepitrealrach commented, sharing similar thoughts. 

Another Instagram user @antnou5509 raised doubts over police position on absence of a criminality at the moment, stating “Every time police say there is no evidence of criminal involvement, there is PRECISELY evidence of criminal involvement.”

In her opinion @lilangelliz suggested the possibility of a serial killer, saying “When suspects are white, and their victims are black, this is what happens. They think we are stupid, look at the Jeffrey Dahmer case in the U.S.”
