FG partners firm on geospatial business mapping

The Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation has partnered Focus Guide Map and Directory Nigeria Ltd to deliver geospatial business mapping in Nigeria.
FGMD sought the partnership to leverage the facilities of the OSGoF to deliver business listing and address verification projects in the country.
Abuduganiyu Adebomehin, the surveyor-general, said the partnership would offer Nigeria a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs to operate their businesses with accurate data using a geospatial information system.
Mr Adebomehin said the partnership would go a long way in revolutionising how businesses are listed and verified in the country.
He explained that the project would create a digital database of businesses and addresses across Nigeria, leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and geographic information system.
FGMD managing director Eddie Chris said Nigeria’s digital market presents a vast opportunity with about 41.5 million businesses nationwide. Mr Chris said that out of 41.5 million businesses, only 10 per cent utilise online platforms, hence the need to develop a robust mechanism to bring them on board.
Mr Chris said the strategic partnership allows him to leverage the surveyor-general’s expertise to create a trusted digital marketplace.
He said their mission is to create a comprehensive and accurate online directory of businesses in Nigeria to enhance the country’s business landscape and promote economic growth.
“Our target audience will be businesses operating in Nigeria, consumers, investors, entrepreneurs, government agencies and regulatory bodies as well as research institutions,” stated Mr Chris.
