Fire service rescues 40-year-old man, cow from Kano well

The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 40-year-old man, Badamasi Ibrahim, trapped in an old well while attempting to rescue his cow at Sabon Ruwa in Makoda Local Government Area.
This is contained in a statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the service, Saminu Abdullahi in Kano.
Mr Abdullahi said the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the statement, an emergency call from Ibrahim Jibrin was received at about 3:22 p.m. that a cow and its owner had fallen inside the well.
“We immediately deployed our firefighters to the scene and rescued the victim. Ibrahim entered the well to bring out his five-year-old cow in an attempt to rescue it; he also got trapped inside the well and was unable to get out,” he said.
Mr Abdullahi said that fire officers successfully rescued both the man and cow alive, despite the man’s difficulty in breathing while trapped inside the well.
He advised the general public against entering or diving into wells to avoid unforeseen circumstances.
The PRO urged members of the public to contact the fire service on 08107888878 or 08000089999 or other appropriate emergency responders for emergency incidents.
