Fire breaks out at Iddo Terminal, government not sure of casualties

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said there was a fire outbreak on Sunday evening, at Iddo terminal, Ebutte Metta, Lagos.

According to LASEMA, the fire was caused by a power surge but pointed out that it was unsure whether anyone died in the fire.

Confirming the incident, Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, Director General of LASEMA, stated that the response team rushed down to the affected area to curtail the inferno’s spread, which has already ignited warehouse at Iddo Terminal.

“While there appears to be no loss of life, the agency is working alongside the Lagos and Federal fire services to control the fire and curtail the extensive spread of the flames,” he explained.

Gboyega Akosile, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, also confirmed the incident on Sunday night, stating via Twitter, “[FIRE OUTBREAK AT IDDO TERMINAL]: @followlasema activated its response team and discovered the fire was caused by a power surge.

“We can’t ascertain loss of life yet. The agency is working along with Lagos And federal fire services to control the fire.”
