FLASH: Court orders remand of cop Drambi Vandi over murder of Bolanle Raheem
The Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday ordered that suspended police officer, Drambi Vandi, be remanded over the murder of pregnant lawyer Bolanle Raheem on Christmas Day.
Mrs Raheem was allegedly gunned down by the trigger-happy policeman in the Ajah axis of Lagos State. The errant cop was promptly arrested, and suspended by the police following nationwide condemnation of the dastardly act.
Mr Vandi was brought to court by the Lagos State government on Friday.
Attorney General Moyosore Onigbanjo, who appeared before the court, applied for the remand of the defendant, ASP Drambi Vandi.
Mr Onigbanjo, citing Section 246 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos, 2015), prayed the court to remand the suspect pending the conclusion of police investigation into the matter.
The prosecution counsel said Mr Vandi had contravened Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State (2015) with his alleged act.
Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola granted the request for remand and ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
She then adjourned the case till January 30 to await the legal advice.
