Flood Disasters: Kano APC vows to track Yusuf govt’s utilisation of N3 billion relief funds

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State said it would closely monitor the state government’s utilisation of the federal government’s N3 billion flood relief funds.
Abdullahi Abbas, the party’s chairman in the state, told journalists in a telephone interview on Sunday in Kano that the party would ensure transparency and accountability in the utilisation of the funds.
Mr Abbas expressed concerns over potential diversion, citing previous instances of misuse of palliatives.
He emphasised the need for transparency and accountability in the utilisation of the funds for the benefit of the people.
Mr Abbas assured that the party would prevent repeated incidents where funds meant for people affected by flooding were diverted.
He said a committee led by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril has been constituted to oversee the distribution of palliatives in the state.
The chairman reiterated the party’s commitment to prevent the diversion of funds meant for the people of Kano for political reasons.
He said the party would ensure that the funds are used for the purpose it is meant for.
