Flood: NEDC distributes relief materials to 2,261 households in Yobe

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed food and non-food items to 2,261 households affected by recent floods in the Potiskum, Nangere, and Jakusko Council Areas.
Ali Abbas, NEDC coordinator in the state, stated this while inaugurating the distribution exercise in Potiskum on Sunday.
Mr Abbas said the beneficiaries are drawn from 21 communities across the affected local government areas.
He listed items distributed, which included rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil, blankets, wrappers, brocade, and mats.
Mr Abbas called on individuals and non-government organisations to also support the victims.
In his remarks, Salisu Mukhtari, chairman, Potiskum Local Government Council, thanked the NEDC for coming to the aid of the victims.
Mr Mukhtari assured that the council would continue to channel funds into drain clearance, calling on residents to imbibe the culture of refuse evacuation.
He commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Mai Mala Buni for their efforts toward the state’s socio-economic development.
Balki Ahmed, a beneficiary in Potiskum, also thanked the NEDC for the support, which she described as timely.
She noted that the devastating August 15 flood had destroyed her entire residence and rendered her family homeless.
The NEDC had also distributed the materials to the victims in the Jakusko and Nangere areas.
