Foundation distributes food items to 350 vulnerable Kogi women
An NGO, Doyin and Suzan Foundation, has distributed food items to 350 indigent women in communities in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Executive Director of the foundation, Adedoyin Ibikunle-Eshanumi said this during the distribution of the items on Friday in Isanlu,
She said the gesture was part of the foundation’s humanitarian activities to reach out to the less-privileged during the festive season and put smiles on their faces.
Mrs Ibikunle-Eshanumi added that the gesture was also to cushion the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy.
“Our foundation distributed food items and other relief items to over 500 vulnerable women in October, and now we are distributing food items to over 350 women in this festive season. We also empowered over 400 vulnerable citizens during Easter celebration in April and 300 women immediately after the removal of fuel subsidy in June.
“The gesture is part of our foundation’s vision to empower the less-privileged in society and alleviate their sufferings. The empowerment of women, including widows, is key to the eradication of poverty. We will continue to do that as part of our humanitarian services,” she said.
The executive director urged well- meaning individuals, other NGOs and corporate organisations to always support the less-privileged in society, saying the government could not do it alone.
Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs Hannah John, and Mrs Mariam Adebisi, who are widows, expressed gratitude to the foundation for putting smiles on their faces with the food items.
“We appreciate Chief Adedoyin and her foundation for always assisting poor women, especially the widows in society. May God bless and protect her,” Adebisi said.
Items distributed included rice and some food ingredients.
