Foundation enrols 50 vulnerable children in primary school

The Misilli Community Development Foundation says it has facilitated the enrolment of 50 poor and vulnerable children into primary school.
Isma’il Misilli, the founder of the foundation, disclosed this at the presentation of school bags and writing materials to vulnerable children in Gombe on Sunday.
Mr Misilli, who is also the director general, press affairs, Government House, Gombe, said the initiative was in support of Gov. Inuwa Yahaya’s educational development efforts.
Represented by Yusuf Hamza, chairman of the foundation, Mr Misilli explained that the foundation was established in 2019 and began operation in 2023.
“Currently, 150 poor and vulnerable children are benefiting from the foundation’s efforts.
“The foundation focuses on three key areas – education, infrastructure, and humanitarian services,” he said.
Mr Misilli identified installation of solar street lights and drilling of boreholes as other activities of the foundation.
Speaking at the event, the state commissioner for education, A’ishatu Maigari, represented by the director of school services, Yusuf Mohammed, lauded the foundation for its support to disadvantaged children.
Mr Maigari, who was the guest of honour at the occasion, affirmed that the programme aligned with Mr Yahaya’s policy of enrolling street children into school.
The director general, Gombe Media Corporation, Ibrahim Isa, praised Mr Misilli for his dedication to vulnerable children through the foundation and announced a donation of N200,000 to further support the cause.
In his remarks, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Gombe state council, Faruk Mu’azu, appreciated the foundation’s work and pledged to donate exercise books to the children on behalf of the union.
A cross-section of beneficiaries’ parents, in separate interviews with journalists, expressed gratitude to Mr Misilli for putting smiles on the faces of their children and family members.
