FRSC commander tasks personnel on constructive intelligence to enhance operations

The Ondo State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has tasked its intelligence operatives with adequate information to enhance operations.
Samuel Ibitoye, sector commander of the FRSC in Ondo State, gave the challenge during a one-day workshop organised for personnel of its intelligence unit on Friday in Akure.
The theme of the workshop is “Adequate Intelligence Gathering Is Crucial For Effective Operational Activities.”
Mr Ibitoye said there was a need for constructive intelligence to enhance the command’s operations and position it as one of the best among others.
According to him, every security formation has its intelligence operative, including the Nigerian Army.
“There are no security formations that would go to work without their intelligence officers’ involvement; otherwise, they are going on a suicide mission.
“So, as FRSC, intelligence is very crucial to our operations because we go on patrol every day, on advocacy every time, all put together to ensure we have a safer road for Nigerians,” he said.
The sector commander, who explained that there were hazards in the corps’ operations, said it was the responsibility of the intelligence officers to provide information for management to achieve its mandate.
“We all know the security challenges in Nigeria today, which are affecting everybody, and FRSC is no exception.
“If you are actually an intelligence operative, you are supposed to have gone out or put your ears to the ground to know and get the attention of your commanding officers,” Mr Ibitoye said.
He called on intelligence operatives of the command to always contribute to its progress and promote the image of the FRSC in the country.
