The corps marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, on Friday congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid el-Fitr.

In a statement on Friday, Mr Mohammed praised the Muslim faithful for their devotion, discipline, and spiritual commitment throughout the holy month.

He urged them to sustain the virtues of love, patience, selflessness, and peaceful coexistence that define the Ramadan period.

The corps marshal underlined that the values of restraint, sacrifice, and caring for others were critical to promoting safety on Nigerian roads.

Mr Mohammed noted that many road traffic crashes are avoidable when road users act with patience and consideration. He called on motorists, pedestrians, and all other road users to imbibe such lessons, especially during festive periods.

“This includes obeying traffic regulations, avoiding dangerous driving, and prioritising the safety of lives and property,” Mr Mohammed said.

While wishing the Muslims a peaceful and joyous celebration, the corps marshal reaffirmed the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring safer roads.

Mr Mohammed said this would be achieved through sustained patrols, strategic deployment of personnel, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders nationwide.

He urged the public to support the corps’ efforts by promptly reporting road crashes and emergencies through the FRSC toll-free emergency line 122, as well as the National Traffic Radio platforms, to allow for timely response and lifesaving interventions.

He encouraged all Nigerians to take advantage of the Eid el-Fitr period to promote unity, national harmony, and collective responsibility toward building safer roads for all.
